Does anyone have a problem with snoring? I've always been a snorer, but since I have developed the thyroid problem, I now snore worse (my wife has kicked me out to my own room). If so, have any of your doctors recommended a sleep study? I am asking this because I was just at my Dr the other day and he said that my TSH levels were good with the Synthroid I am taking. But I still feel tired and can't concentrate or get motivated on anything, plus I am depressed half the time. I told him this and he gave me a test and thinks that I have ADHD. My wife and I agree that he has to be wrong because I never had these problems before. How do you just develop ADHD? Anyway, he switched me from Celexa to Wellbutrin and put me on Strattera. I guess I will give it some time and see. But anyway, back to the snoring, has anyone else developed sleep apnea from your thyroid problem?

Re: thyroidism and snoring
Tue, January 20, 2004 - 1:10 PMI also wonder if thyroid diseases create a plethera of other disorders and diseases? Have there been studies on that?
Snoring...I have problems. I didn't used to snore until I had hypothyroid. I don't know how bad or if those nose strips actually helped with the noise level, but they have helped me with quality of sleep.
Funny story. The other night, I fell asleep on the couch while my friend and I were watching DVD's. My dog was also sleeping next to me on the floor. My friend had to look over to see who was making which snoring sound because we were both snoring with the same rythm and volume. -

Thu, January 22, 2004 - 12:12 AMcute!
my dog snores nearly louder than I!
perhaps she has hypothyroidism as well as us.
She certainly has a gas problem (flatulence) that could put some small animals out of existance..... certain strains of virii as well! -

Thu, January 22, 2004 - 5:29 PMWow, now we have a connection. Hypothyroidism, snoring and farting. Is farting what I have to look forward to? My wife will really love that. -

Re: thyroidism and snoring
Wed, June 16, 2004 - 10:39 PMthough there is no hard proof, my various doctors, including homeopath, have linked my hypothyroidism to depression, my various sleep disorders (I think snoring could fit into this ...), Ugh and psoriasis.
and arthritus, though in my family it is genetic, but not starting at age 15 like me!! -

Having hyper, I too, have sleeping/snoring issues. But I have been a snorer for years prior to the diagnosis (nasal issue related). The nasal strips DO help indeed (i've discovered the tan ones work better than the clear ones, stay on better).
Doc said sleeping elevated would help, which it does for the snoring, but is too hard on the neck/back.
Surely thyroid disbalance for extended periods of time (especially if not treated properly or neglected) can lead to other diseases and disorders.
