I ws suprised to see a tribe for Thyroidism. I knew I wasn't the only one out there who has Hypo-thyroidism. I just never met anyone else who has it.
I was diagnosed ten years ago and was automatically put on levothroid without much explanation why. Ever since then, I've been looking around for information off and on.

Re: When and what kind?
Thu, November 20, 2003 - 11:43 PMSo far, I don't think I've been up to normal levels since before they diagnosed me. I'm bad at remembering to take my pill daily too. The major factor is my metabolism. I don't have energy. I'm always sleepy or tired. -

Re: When and what kind?
Sat, November 22, 2003 - 6:30 PMI don't (usually) forget to take my pill, however I am either tired/ fatigued to no end or out of no where, I am up for hours and hours with no sleep at all.

Sat, December 13, 2003 - 11:58 PMAmanda sorry to hear that
Personally I have a goiter along with far as healthwise goes I am pissed about it They didnt find mine til I got heavy It is frustrating to be heavy and have people make assumptions about you I am a small person but have a belly because of this Kinda makes me look down on myself It is hard to say it is a medical problem when the docs dont do enough Overweight is unhealthy All they can seem to do is just play with your levels It is almost like kiss your ass and hope wow hehe not fun thing to do when it is your life at stakes -

Re: When and what kind?
Sun, December 14, 2003 - 3:56 AMthe current research is so NOT UP TO SNUFF it is ridiculous.
this is such an invisble disease in terms of if you see one of us walking down the street, you would not be able to tell that anything is amiss, however if you knew us previously, before becoming ill... you will see the signs from weight to hair loss, to this n that....
I am glad we can all discuss situations. -

Re: When and what kind?
Mon, December 15, 2003 - 2:25 AMI agree with you about this needing to be put more into awareness about thyroid disease conditions When I was younger it was not even detected so I had no idea what the signs are It is amazing how we have soo much technolgy come in pretty fast but far as diseases that need to be paid attention to and looked at they just turn their heads Gotta bring the population down some way You gotta wonder why?

Re: When and what kind?
Sun, May 9, 2004 - 1:29 AMI think I was diagnosed in the winter of 2000. I was very tired, couldn't remember anything, was gaining weight even though I wasn't eating much, and my muscles and joints were aching.
Turns out my thyroid had shut down a long time ago. My blood levels were the highest the doctors had ever seen and they were amazed I hadn't suffered long term kidney damage.
My muscles were actually starting to break down.
I'm on 100 MCG of levoyxl now. I go once a year to have my levels checked.
They only problem I have now is weight and cholesterol. I can't seem to lose any even with exercise. I'm thinking about going on the South Beach diet next month and ramping up my exercise. -

Re: When and what kind?
Sun, May 9, 2004 - 1:58 PMmy doctor recommended both South Beach and the Zone to me - the Zone worked best for me and I lost all the weight I gained after my thyroid removal. I also took up both yoga & pilates, in place of running which just left me weak. Good luck...

Re: When and what kind?
Sun, June 10, 2007 - 1:18 AMYou're on 100 MCG of levoxyl? I'm on 88 MCG. you can seriously take 100? That's amazing. I had no idea. i'm trying the eat 2-4 hours a day diet as I'm very much type 1 diabetic as well. You can get kidney damage from thyroid disorder? Excuse my questioning and surprise. I had no idea even after reading books on thyroid disorder.
